Theory about spam

Friday, May 20th, 2005

Spam: those annoying un-asked for emails you get in your inbox every day. Here’s my theory about spam:
It’s based on vices. It wants you to buy, buy, buy – that’s greed and always wanting more. It wants you to look at pornography. It wants you to buy stuff that will enhance your reproductive body parts; that appeals to lust. (Mine are fine just the way they are, thanks. Luke and I made a baby with no help from spammers.) They want you to fall for all kinds of scams – giving your contact information to your long-lost relative in Nigeria so you can inherit his money, that sort of thing. Why the heck would I want more money?!? I have plenty of food. I live in a nice apartment with an oven, microwave, fridge, toilet, shower and two sinks. I have more clothes than I have time to wear.

Lord, please send some of your most persistent angels to the spammers and get them to stop bugging me. I’d really appreciate it. I love you, God!

Dear Terri Schiavo,

Friday, March 18th, 2005

Dear Terri,
My heart bleeds for you. For the second time, your ‘husband’ Michael has persuaded Florida’s Judge Greer to kill you by removing your feeding tube. I am so grateful to our Lord that my husband, Luke, would never do that. He is not abusive. He respects my family and prays for them with me. It seems that Michael doesn’t even believe in our God. How ironic that he has the same name as St. Michael the Archangel, Prince of the heavenly host, who fights the devil so bravely for love of God and us. Your husband has given in to Satan and I grieve for him even as I pray for him. I pray that you will miraculously survive starvation by the hand of God as you did the last time Judge Greer was convinced. I pray for your parents and brother Bobby, who have fought and prayed so hard for you. I pray for the Catholics in your parish, who are sick of hearing about you…I pray that if and when you return, they will welcome you back with open arms and praise God for His loving miracles. I hope that you remember to hope, and that you remember to ask our Lady, God’s Mother, for help as you suffer in the coming hours. What she asks of her Son, He usually delivers. I love you! Carry on.
My Mother, my Confidence,
Corinne

tired Mama, job-hunting, and marriage

Come see my website! I hope you like it. There are a few prayers there, prayer petitions (please pray for us and lots of other people), recommended bands, a growing collection of links, stuff about chastity/modesty/purity/love, and more.

How can any pregnant woman deny that her child is a baby? It saddens me to think of all the pro-choice and otherwise anti-life women out there. If you can read (and many humans can’t), you’re human. You’re just like me in that our lives started when our parents’ sperm and egg met at the moment of conception. The real choice is between birth and adoption, not murder of unborn children. Murder is never a moral, ethical option, and doctors who abort children need lots of prayers.

Contraception. There’s a hard topic to bring up in public. “Hey, you’re not using condoms with that girlfriend of yours, right? I really hope that you’re respecting her as a woman and respecting her virginity (or helping her to heal from pre- or extra-marital sex) by building her up and learning about her personality.” Who wants to talk about our sin? I only do that in the Sacrament of Penance, where the priest doesn’t judge me and God, through the priest, absolves me of my sins. What a great feeling it is to have a clean soul!! There are so many things to do besides have sex. If you’re sitting in class and trying to stay awake, you’re abstaining from sex. If you’re not a prostitute and you’re enjoying a hard day’s work, you’re abstaining from sex. The only thing stopping people from abstaining with their loved ones of the opposite (and sometimes, same) sex is their inability to fight their desires. Self-control is a must for everyone. Most people use self-control when driving, so they don’t kill pedestrians and run into other cars. Why not exercise the same self-restraint, self-discipline, self-control when in a relationship with someone? I pray that the Body of Christ will think about these things more often. I pray that people will receive help from friends, nuns, priests, and others in becoming and staying chaste, pure, modest, and truly loving. Our world will be so much better when this happens. God bless you!

Motherhood 101

Saturday, February 12th, 2005

Howdy, Internet viewers. I’m an excited new mother! Luke and I conceived our child in late December, and I’m learning all about motherhood. We’re deciding between calling ourselves “Mommy and Daddy” or “Mama and Papa”…right now, I prefer the latter. I’m eating all that I can stomach, and making sure it’s healthy. Baby is about 8 weeks old at this point, so I couldn’t tell you if God’s blessed us with a boy or a girl.
Please pray for our unborn child, and that we can be the parents that God made us to be…hopefully, that means loving, caring, patient, humble, wise, and always trusting in God as the one who knows best. If anything happens to our precious one before he or she is born, or even shortly after, please pray that we may accept that, and do God’s will.
Whose bright idea was it to live off savings? How can people possibly live without income today and hope to rent a home for a few months without bankruptcy? It’s a cloudy time in my family financially, and we can’t lose hope. Jesus never did, and He loves us more than we love our kid…wow. Luke and I want to make our home where it’s safe to do so, and that’s hard to do when the jobs are in the cities. I abhor cities and try to understand the people who tolerate living in them. Thank God for His green earth and small, sometimes friendly towns, and thank God for volunteers and encouraging friends and family.
Have a great Lent! Remember to abstain from meat on Fridays, and enjoy the fish.
